Valbonne

Village

Valbonne is one of the prettiest and unspoilt villages in the area. In recent years Valbonne  has become very ‘touristy’, and as such most of the restaurants and hotel beds are fully booked in summer.

The village is situated about 8K from the coast on the edge of a large forest, midway between Cannes and Grasse.

Valbonne’s proximity to the Sophia Antipolis business park means many foreign telecommunications professionals have set up home in and around the village. Is this a good thing? Most of the foreigners think so, but opinion amongst the ‘locals’ is divided.

Christmas Market (December 2002). The Christmas market runs from December 22nd to 25th every year. A fine selection of traditional Provençal produce is on sale. Musicians play in the streets, chestnuts and ‘vin chaud’ is available and a good time is had by all.

Monthly Brocante (November 2002).  An antiques fair which takes place in the streets on the first Sunday of every month. Some bargains and quite a bit of junk.

Valbonne Church (November 2002).  Daily services. The church is linked to a  12 century abbey. Classical musical recitals take place on summer evenings.

Arcades (Feb 2003)  These arcades (arches) give the name to the ‘places des Arcades’ and the pictured ‘café des arcades’. Three restaurants offer late evening dining on ‘the place” in summer.
